‘Don’t Leave Alice! Please Get Up!!’
This is a painting of my cow, Alice, who left last year in the spring of 2025. We buried Alice in a clearing by our lake where her mother, Lil, was also buried. Cows are herd animals, which means they pick a leader, watch out for each other—even babysit another cow’s calf to give that mother a break. Alice got to be leader, so after we buried her, we saw all the cows standing in a circle around the grave, saying goodbye. We all miss her.
