‘Mighty Lil’

This is an oil on board painting of my first cow, Lil. In the background stands Helen, her grand daughter and Alice’s daughter. Lil was definitely the ‘boss cow’ until she grew older and then Alice became the herd leader.

Lil was rejected by the local dairy farm where I found her, due to a wandering right eye, a genetic flaw for dairy farmers. She moved in at a week old and left 22 years later after a long and very meaningful life. I still miss her.
